Some of the actors are so malign and evil and vicious and capable that it is frightening. The Internet has weaponized something that, undoubtedly was always there but has now become super-charged. I saw how quickly they could organize and turn their collective attention towards suspected "pedophiles" and it's really breathtaking. They use Blitzkrieg tactics to completely overwhelm their enemies. The whole Qanon movement is as disturbing as it could be. I've noticed that much of the anti-trans movement uses the accusation of "pedophilia" to ruthlessly destroy their enemies. I haven't seen nearly as much of that being done by pro-trans so, while I'm critical of claims made by them, the movement organized to oppose them scares me more.
