Lial, after decades of their willful ignorance, you begin to realize that they will invent the demon when they are unable to successfully locate it. NAMBLA fulfills that role no matter how many times we declare our principles. After Etan Patz' disappearance from lower Manhattan decades ago (1979), the FBI was willing to lie about a photo in a calendar NAMBLA had published by stating that it was Etan Patz when, there was no way it could have been, given the age of the calendar. David Thorstad called a press conference in which he provided the evidence that the accusation was a willful lie. No matter, all the public wanted to hear was that we were evil villains capable of anything. It appears that there is nothing we can do to dislodge this belief when it is sating a primitive, tribal appetite. My belief is that generational death will eventually lead to its gradual diminishment. The problem is, the most recent group of young adults to emerge is a pretty sorry lot. They are very damaged and emotionally and experientially deprived. The middle class ones, at least, are imprisoned in a walled-garden existence surrounded only by their immediate peers and authorized adults feeding them a steady diet of propaganda in lieu of any actual science, history, art, reading, writing or math. Universities have become flooded with students who know almost nothing and cannot read or write to save their lives. To boot, they have no idea what they should be rightly resentful about and blame Boomers for global warming and racism when what they should be blaming them for is fucking up their childhoods. Nevertheless, any generalizations about people of certain ages only goes so far when we know that quickly becomes the scapegoating of people who are blameless and is a useless way to contend with problems. But yes, young adults provide a very grim tableau before us, the products of some fifty years of pedo-hysteria that has fundamentally restructured society. |
