I would add that the losing strategy turned out not only to be wrong, but to have been in the end in service to the most cynical forces at work in (neo-)liberalism. Its ensuing failure made manifest a fundamental disharmony between the modern projects of sexual liberation -- ongoing, if ever more rife with internal contradictions -- and BL.
