progressive thing?... You must be very young

When I was a kid a very, very long time ago in the last century, It would have been extremely difficult to find even one of these kids who had "supportive parents". Some parents simply tolerated these kids better then others but were far from understanding and supportive. I did meet some parents that after many years of struggling with this issue became more accepting once their kids were already adults. And if you go even further back to the generations before mine when gays were routinely imprisoned and sometimes killed and even experimented on, you would have still found these kinds of kids and adults. They had a very difficult life back then but fortunately many found sanctuary in the performing arts.... which as Eric pointed out they are well adapted to.
