"Pedophile, pedophile, pedophile..." I'd say to anyone who is bent on using that term to describe themselves to think it through a little better. It's obviously a term of pathology. Why would you call yourself that? For starters, as we all know, it is completely misused by virtually everyone, applying as it does, only to an attraction to preadolescents. Even if that applies to you, why would you want to use a term of denigration to describe yourself, especially as it has spread far outside of the psychology community and into the public sphere to become an object of hatred? There's a reason why the VIRPED's use it, they see themselves as pathological and crave pity. So, start with some self-respect, I'd say. |
