I think the priest lacked imagination, and could have found another way to minimize the boy's suffering. The world is a BIG place... I don't find what he did (even fictionally) excusable. And it only reinforces the public's perception of (so-called) "pedophile monsters". Which is something that we DON'T need! M. ...but the makers of the movie wouldn't have given a shit about that -- they just wanted lots of box-office receipts! It cost a little over a million dollars to make, and grossed 10 million worldwide.
