I really liked Will Nipper, later known as "Will Estes," in "The New Lassie," which was an independently distributed (not a major network) series that ran for several years starting in 1989. I thought he was stunning and he aged beautifully! I saw the first episode while in jail awaiting some kind of disposition in my case. There was a death-row inmate in the cell next to me, "Hootie" Croy, who was fighting his case on appeal and who expressed great suspicion that I seemed so interested in that particular show and the one episode that I was able to watch. Soon, rumors were all over the jail. He won his case with the help of a hot-shot team of lawyers led by celebrity attorney, Tony Serra and even had a movie made about him - "True Believer," while I got sent up for the next five years having retained a lawyer who I later realized was a total dump truck and who eventually was disbarred in two different states for failing to adequately represent his clients. I wouldn't see the show again until years after it had finished its run and, even then, I've only ever seen one or two episodes. I had an enormo-, near-peer, crush on Brandon Cruz, too! (he was four years younger than me). I used to fantasize that I was "The Father" in "The Courtship Of Eddie's Father" and the beneficiary of the extraordinary (by any standard!) number of hugs and kisses they exchanged on the show. |
