"And apparently seven people actually fell for it!" Ummm, what did they fall for? An anti just plainly asked them to show their faces. It wasn't some kind of trick or anything that anyone "fell for." If anything, it's the antis who might have gotten tricked into tracking down some fake pictures. If any of them had shared their real pictures, you don't know the personal circumstances behind why some of them might have felt comfortable posting. Maybe it's their job to work with sex offenders and there's nothing for them to get in trouble about. Or maybe it's some unemployed autistic person who never has to worry about holding down a real job. "But I don't think it's worth the privacy risk." This is an individual risk whose balance may be different for different people. For most people, that risk may be prohibitive, but the most visible people on the internet are rarely a representative sample. "I know exactly what Anonymous was trying to do, and sadly, it worked." I just see a bunch of antis throwing a hissy-fit over pedophiles. Lighten up. |
