The concept of Mary's Immaculate Conception is not explicitly "proclaimed" in the gospels and letters of the New Testament, but that hardly makes it "nonbiblical." It's something that took many centuries to arrive at, for sure, but the same can be said for any number of elements of Christian dogma, or a million other important ideas it took mankind a while to establish. Terms like "non-biblical" and "un-biblical" are sneaky and vague. And, of course, the Bible is hardly the foundation of Christianity anyway! |
