He took another poster down with him, his live-in partner, the beloved PKA Gort, who hung himself rather than face the three-ring media, prosecutorial circus -- and it was a circus.

A tragedy all around. Sparks was (is? who knows) extremely intelligent. He was also a bit arrogant and made the mistaken assumption that his intelligence and insight would confer a degree of protection.

They didn't.

He was probably correct about the potential therapeutic value to autistic boys of erotic touch.

But that is not something you can say publicly and expect to remain out of prison, particularly if you are putting your theories into practice.
