Thanks for this. I had never heard of Axgil. He was an early advocate of gay marriage, and the article on him in English Wikipedia emphasizes this, probably to conform to current Rainbow orthodoxy. The article linked below provides more context. He was a founder of the Scandanavian gay movement who became enmeshed in a rent boy and porn scandal in the 1950s. The author of the article, Peter Edelberg, comments about the Scandanavian movement: Living outside the law was a common experience among gay men before the 1970s, and teenage rent boys were an ‘accepted, integrated, and fetishized’ element in that culture, as I have argued elsewhere. Though Edelberg is at pains to differentiate the US movement from the Scandanavian one, it seems to me this comment would be applicable to both. ("Elsewhere" refers to a Edelberg's 2012 book, Storbyen trækker: homoseksualitet, prostitution og pornografi i Danmark 1945-1976 -- not translated into English as far as I can see.)
