Simply calling him a "kid" isn't infantilizing. It might be condescending to some people, but infantilization is the creation of a narrative about an incapacity to make choices and being defenseless. One can lament the bad path he followed without claiming he didn't know what he was doing. And no one is going to raise the age of consent to 25 simply because of someone's word choice.
