Every one of us has to make personal decisions on the likelihood of being pursued at all, depending on our value as a target to the cops of whatever in our respective jurisdictions. If you are suspected of a heinous crime then they will throw resources at you and eventually get you regardless of any level of computer security. If you are not likely to be a high-value target, then you are unlikely to ever be pursued at all.
