Who is the nude in the lower left?

Posted by mango on 2024-July-7 04:28:13, Sunday

A few days ago, I came across "Homer" by Jean-Baptiste Auguste Leloir (1809–1892)(which is held by the Louvre) and was curious what sort of person Leloir intended to depict in the painting's lower left. A quick Google search didn't yield much discussion about the painting. The person is conspicuously unclothed while nearly everyone else has robes of some sort. (The youngest kid just holds an odd cloth, though.)
