There was a time when BoyChat had scores of new threads started and hundreds of individual readers visiting every day. Back then most visitors were just normal people who got their politics from the usual places like cable news, and these casual readers grew tyred of scrolling past long messy conversations to get to the bl topics that they had come to boychat to read. This is the same reason that cogging was a lot "tighter" back then, since a few spammers like monkeyLostInHead or Manstuprator could make the board significantly less useful. The Treehouse, OtherChat and MetaBoyChat were created to make the cog's job of managing BoyChat easier. Similar to an important businessperson who has to delegate certain topics to their vice presidents and hires a tough secretary to tell all visitors that they will have to schedule a meeting if they want to see the head honcho, the extra discipline and organizational structure were necessary to keep side issues from distracting from the important main focus, but these days BoyChat's new threads can be measured in scores of new threads started per month and most readers and commenters are the same couple dozen people coming back over and over again. These days BC is more like a retirement home. The VPs and secretary have been let go, replaced by a couple of halfhearted unpaid volunteer coordinators who are happy to have any visitors they can get to sing songs with the residents in the activities room. So relax bery. Don't act like that self important delusional old geezer who demands that the cub scouts need to make an appointment before they sing their camp songs. We aren't busy like that any more. Everything is allowed to be posted on the main page, unless it becomes enough of a distraction to be worth the cog's time to move it. |
