I have never come close to saying that trucks and dolls is "the whole difference between girls and boys." My statement was that just because a difference is shown to exist, it does not follow that it's a relevant difference and the trucks and dolls example is the one that is typically trotted out by masculinists in order to justify their position. The most obvious difference I've cited in the past is that males commit far more crimes than females, but then there's no masculinist here who'd want to bring that up since it would seem to strengthen the case of feminists' fear of men. "Diogenes ( i think) is arguing against intervention by females/feminists in some or all male only spaces, and for leaving it to choice" He's arguing for the institutionalization of masculinity and femininity. Sure, he claims that non-conforming kids would not be made to conform outright, but then most conformity is enforced by groups, not by authorities. He overlooks how gender segregation would exacerbate that. "You mention double standards twice in your post, as if its a given that the things being talked about are double standards. Its not at all a given." The null hypothesis states that we cannot presume a difference between groups without evidence. High school athletics employs gender divisions because differences between male and female athletes is a demonstrable fact from adolescence onwards, therefore it's not a double standard. Boxing employs division by weight class for similar reasons; also not a double standard. High school academics have honors and advanced classes which are also not double standards because they are based on merit and ability. But diogenes wants to separate girls and boys because... they have been granted different rights to hurl accusations? By whom? That's not a difference between boys and girls but a difference in the behavior of authorities. And if you have the authority to separate girls and boys then you have the authority to stop lending credence to every misinterpreted shoulder tap. Generally, one would prefer a cure that is the least invasive before proceeding to the most invasive.
