If I were the CEO of that company, I would have preempted the current goings-on by suggesting a third option other than selling or folding up.. allowing internal operations to be monitored by a trusted third-party.. shouldn't make any real difference to their profits if that's their primary motivation for being in business and collecting info as they do. Very recently, it's been seen just how the Chinese govt has been using outsourced hacking to get what they want, just like the Russians have been doing for ages too.
