I tried my best to explain myself to him. Personally, the idealism of boys is one of the factors that draw me to them, but in this case I unfortunately chipped away at some of that idealism. We still saw each other from time to time, but eventually lost touch. The relationship was never the same after that. I suspect that he was a bit heartbroken and embarrassed. This society has a way of shaming boys for their reckless idealism and physical affection. When looking at the news I believe it would do us good if we could all have more of that.
