If you want my short response, it's simply no. I will not relent on my hostility towards researchers. If you want my longer, more nuanced view, it's as follows: I do believe it is worthwhile to acknowledge, and even be happy, that the narrative towards youthlovers has shifted any degree further from outright hatefulness. However, I also believe it is completely reasonable to still be indignant and to refuse to cease hostile reactions. I will not tell someone who gives a "fuck you!" to a researcher that they are wrong or unjustified in this response. However, far from this being meaningless hostility, there is good reason to maintain it to some degree. As others on here have previously mentioned, these hostilities exist because the way we are treated by researchers is still totally insufficient, degrading, and must be altered. For this reason, it is totally reasonable to remain openly frustrated towards these researchers, especially in pursuit of better treatment. Note: the indignation comes not just from "miserable old fuckers," but from much younger people as well. I myself am a young woman and am just as much frustrated by researchers. |
