"Kein Täter Werden," incidentally, does not mean "don't offend." It means "don't become an offender." "Täter" is a deliciously tricky word, as it also (and in fact literally) means "doer," someone who "does" something, and it has acquired a negative sense. "Kein Täter Werden" is thus an admonishment not to become a kind of person. It's not "don't commit crimes," but rather "don't become a criminal" (though "Täter" is a more sinister word than "criminal"). It's fascinating that the kind of research being conducted here really is bent on determining people as "Täter," whether or not they have done anything criminal. You can become a "Täter" -- which is what they want you to do, even as they tell you not to do it -- just be answering questions of their own devising. (A teasing form of seduction really, clever yet bumbling, that may work fairly well on a lot of BLs. "Don't worry: we won't tell mummy.") |
