Thanks for the sartorial history, which was new to me and most enlightening. British boys certainly seem to have lost their fear of shorts recently. Being British, of course, these protests inevitably involve cross-dressing).

I share your enthusiasm for lederhosen as well. They are so terribly cute, and of course the straps keep the shorts nice and high and stop them sagging, so as to display maximum thigh. I expect you've already come across the 'Sailor Suits and Lederhosen Film Blog'.
