Rafts are but one idea

If you've ever seen a doco about the making of an oil platform and the reasoning behind the way they're constructed, sticking out of the ocean the way they do, you'd probably find it interesting. SWATH ships too. I'd want to ultimately locate quite far away from any other nation.. gets away from legal issues, but construction could happen wherever, probably cheap labour somewhere, but not always the best option. If the idea of 'seasteading' is of interest at all, then you should read about.. seasteading.. there's plenty of people getting into the idea now. A few pioneers have built prototypes already but haven't ventured so far as to be truly oceanic. One project misjudged the government of the country in whose waters they were in and ended up having to go on the run, for their lives. That would be an example of the kind of insanity they should try to avoid in the first place, a bit of research would have saved them a lot of money and bother.
