In reply to 2nd most important political tactic now posted by beracine on 2022-August-17 02:10:42, Wednesday

"They must be made to rethink this by actually talking to kids"

Mmmm... no, it's not that simple. They will always see kids as potentially misguided and in need of being "set right." Whatever kids themselves say will not be taken seriously.

"unless they jettison their sexual judgmentalism (as badly researched as it is) they cannot win"

How's that? Promoting groomer hysteria is way too easy with the way the Left has been pushing LGBT identity politics on kids. This tactic allows the Right to win over conservative ethnic minority voters, so why would they give that up? And gain what in return? Mainstream society is already very judgmental about sex, so in what way could the Right "win" by abandoning that?

"their intransigence also forces MAPs into the arms of the totalitarian Left."

Nobody cares about pedo-swing voters.

Of course, that's not to say that the Right doesn't present us with a few opportunities, namely the more accepting attitude they have towards the sexuality of straight boys. This is largely a working-class "boys will be boys" attitude in which straight boys have not yet been totally absorbed into the idea of what they would consider a victim. A straight boy getting it on with an older girl is somewhat still seen as the boy "getting lucky" and if we're going to fight for the sexual empowerment of minors, that's the last hill left standing (if only barely). We need to defend it even if we don't directly benefit from hetero-boy rights.

Another thing to understand about the Right is that that's where the counterculture is today. Because they are on the outs politically (at least nationally) they will be more open to alternative points of view as long as it doesn't outright contradict their antiquated notions about masculinity. Rhetoric invoking the so-called "war on boys" (of which I am somewhat skeptical though it may prove useful) could be applied to any discussion of straight boys being treated as potential perpetrators. One thing Betsy DeVos did right as the secretary of education was bring back due process for college students accused of sexual assault (which the Biden administration is working to reverse).

The bus the Right is on will not take us to the magical land of man-boy love, but if we want to take the first step towards a society where horny boys are not seen as predators or victims, the Right may have something to offer that's worth exploring.
