This maid, Adrian McManus, is not a reliable witness, as I explain in my book Michael Jackson's Dangerous Liaisons, which is now out in a Kindle version: 624 pages, no less, of in-depth probing and analysis for a mere $4.99 via Amazon.com or £3.78 from Amazon.co.uk. Written under the pen name Carl Toms, the book had many rave reviews, albeit the launch was marred when I was outed as a BL and Jackson fans organised a high-profile online campaign to discredit my work and limit sales.

But never mind the maid. There has been plenty of far more compelling testimony than hers, including that of Wade Robson and James Safechuck as presented in the documentary Leaving Neverland. Some people dismiss their accounts based on the totally opposite ones they gave at the time of Michael's 2005 trial. However, when the whole context is brought into the picture, including the statement made by Jordan Chandler before his family were bought off for a reported $20mn settlement, it should become clear to anyone but diehard Jackson "loyalists" (loyal to his image but not to the truth) that he had been a very active BL. There really is very little room for doubt.

I do not say this in order to condemn Michael. My book takes a sympathetic view of his relationships with boys. He treated them very well, on the whole. He was by no means above reproach in his dealings with others, though, and I take a critical view where the facts justify doing so.

Just as a taster, what follows is one of my passages about the maid mentioned above, who was just one of many domestic staff, security guards, etc, who either testified in court or gave their stories to the media.

FROM THE BOOK:

After [defence lawyer] Mesereau had disposed of Chacon in such fine style, in the 1108 hearing proper, he then turned the heat on another witness, Neverland maid Adrian McManus, who said she saw Michael kissing several boys, including Macaulay Culkin. In Jordie Chandler’s case, she said, she saw Michael’s hand on his crotch.

McManus initially gave her evidence confidently and forcefully, but was soon shot down in flames under cross-examination. She too had been a co-plaintiff in the failed unfair dismissal lawsuit against Jackson and was also deposed in 1993 for the grand jury investigation into the Chandler allegations.

In her deposition, McManus stated she never saw Jackson molesting any children. Now she testified that she had lied in her deposition, and attempted to explain this by saying she had feared repercussions from the Jackson camp. Mesereau attacked her as a disgruntled former employee for the wrongful dismissal suit, and as a perjurer for lying on oath to the grand jury.

“You said that you trusted Michael Jackson and would leave your own son alone with him, isn’t that right?” Mesereau asked. She admitted she had said that.

Jackson’s legal team had clearly done their homework on McManus, enabling Mesereau to show she had a gruesome skeleton in her cupboard.

She and her husband had been sued by a sister-in-law, who won a judgment against them of over $30,000. The complaint? They had defrauded the woman’s children for whom they had been guardians after her husband died. McManus was also obliged to admit she used a “media broker” to sell stories to tabloids, including a totally baseless one claiming inside knowledge of Jackson’s sex life with ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley. In court she confessed she had no genuine “sex secrets” to sell at all. And as if clear evidence of perjury, fraud and lying specifically about Michael’s sex life were not enough to discredit her, McManus was even painted as a thief when Mesereau revealed McManus had stolen an ink drawing of Elvis Presley by Jackson and sold it. She claimed she found the drawing after it had been discarded as trash – a fate which would certainly befall her testimony. One has to wonder what on earth the prosecution hoped to achieve by relying on such people.
