Another boy moment from a Brad Pitt Movie

Is in Troy in the very beginning where they send a boy to get Achilles (Brad) to fight a match to win a war. The boy was riding the horse and since he was wearing a chiton his legs were on full display. I wonder if they let him wear underwear or if he had to stay true to the time period. If he wasn't then that horse would have had a surprise poking it's back. ;)
