For some people they like to stick to a specific genre at a time, but fair warning when I listen to music it is more like a journey that can move around. I see music as an art that knows no specific genre, as each one can have its own appeal. I try to find that in a wide variety of songs.

In case you are this way too, here is a little playlist:

Starting off light, this song is a really feel-good, positive song. At least in my opinion. It's the late 90s, it's nice and warm and life is good:

    Len - Steal My Sunshine
  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1fzJ_AYajA

  2. Goodness, how many drugs do you think it took to make this next song and music video? It's good that they did though:

    Butterfly - Crazy Town
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FEDrU85FLE

  4. "I could feel. Too much is never enough. You always gotta lift me up when these times get rough. I was lost, now I'm found, ever since you've been around..."

"I don't deserve you unless it's some kind of hidden message
To show me life is precious, then I guess it's true
But to tell truth, I really never knew 'til I met you
See I was lost and confused, twisted and used up
Knew a better life existed, but thought that I missed it."

"So sexy...almost evil! Talking about the butterflies in my head.
I used to think the happy endings were only in the books I read
But you make feel alive when I was almost dead..."

Featuring a cute boy in an Australain little schoolboy uniform, when I saw this next video I immediately memorized it so I could later find it, download it...and enjoy it in more ways than one:

Be Good Johnny - Men At Work (Includes a boy in the video!)
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74dvJVwGA6Y

  6. Another classic song from the same band:

Men At Work - Down Under
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfR9iY5y94s

  8. Fun fact - The lead singer for this next song, David Byrne, is known for riding his bicycle everywhere instead of driving a car. That boy in this video also grew up to be a singer (A rapper, I want to say), but not as popular.

Talking Heads - Burning Down the House (Includes a boy in the video!)
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3eC35LoF4U

  10. Since we are still on an oldies run, this next song was played ALL THE TIME when I would go bowling Friday nights with my YF (it was on their part playlist). We both loved dancing to this. (The dancing in the video is interesting too...)

Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Around
  11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGNiXGX2nLU

  12. Another song that was played all the time when bowling with my YF. This particular video shows how my YF and I would dance to the song, in reference to Night at The Roxbury. :D :

    What Is Love - Haddaway
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rzgrP7VA_Q

  14. One of those songs that was an immediate classic for parties:

    Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qORYO0atB6g

  16. Another song that was just kinda everywhere in the background:

The Bad Touch - Bloodhound Gang
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xat1GVnl8-k

  18. The Scatman was actually a pretty cool guy and I loved his story. He dealt with major stuttoring. Even one sentence could be a struggle for him. As a kid though, he learned about a style of singing called "scat" (that term didn't age very well). In the 90s, he came out with this song to motivate other kids who struggle with stuttoring:

    Scatman - Scatman John
  19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy8kmNEo1i8

  20. As the saying goes there might be a Slim Shady in all of us. Ironically, this music video is about stopping a kid for getting a hold of one of his albums even though it had an Advisroy warning label on it. The irony is I was about that boy's age when this came out and I was jamming to it:

Without Me - Eminem (Includes a boy in the video! Although, very briefly)
  21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVkUvmDQ3HY

  22. Slim Shady may have sang as a rapper, but looked pretty nerdy. Before the days of YouTube, I remember watching this video on AlbinoBlackSheep of Weird Al making a tribute to us fellow nerds:

White & Nerdy - Weird Al
  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9qYF9DZPdw

  24. Got to see Weird Al in concert too, that was a lot of fun. Another song I have listened to a bagillion times:

The Humpty Dance - Digital Underground
  25. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV7o0KG4WeQ

  26. I would sing this along in my living room at 2am. :)

But sometimes, you just want to get into a "fuck it", tough attitude. You want to get pumped up! Especially when trying to motivate yourself. Here is one that never fails to disappoint:

Can't Be Touched - Roy Jones
  27. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoCOg8ZzUfg

  28. "You want a war? Muthafucka I ain't hard to find..." you cannot deny that is just a boss statement right there! And a second song with the same kind of fighting attitude:

X Gon Give It To Ya - DMX
  29. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkOJ9uNj9EY

  30. If those don't help push you to go that extra set at the gym or extra mile when you're sore, here is Korn, another one of my top favorite bands that I grew up with and have seen in concert a few times. Taking "fuck that" literally:

    Ya'll Want A Single - Korn
  31. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyFlW_bOg-Q

  32. One more "fuck it" tune:

    Hot Dog - Limp Bikzit
  33. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlGyu9EJbmE

  34. "Fuck's just a word and it's all fucked up!"

I think Korn deserves a few more tributes...

Here To Stay - Korn (Features a boy, briefly)
  35. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr3x7tS__dE

  36. I liked this video when it first came out and I love the power behind the song!:

    Somebody Someone - Korn
  37. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBEE-t-uyI0

  38. Not a song I would have ordinarily been into, but because of the way it tied to this old Snow White cartoon I have came to like it. It actually fits really well, and gives a darker theme to it!

    Mercury - Ghostmane
  39. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31j4DIpgY9U

  40. Real note though, when Fred Durst wasn't running his mouth outside the studio, he was capable of some great writing and singing:

    Re-Arranged - Limp Bizkit
  41. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WDiNZU33MA

  42. "I'd love to be the one to...disappoint you...when I don't fall down."

Let's end on a last dance song though! My cousin and I had a dance to this song down perfectly as kids:

Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle) - Limp Bizkit
  43. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAU9YqBYrz4

  44. Remember, you just gotta "keep rollin' rollin' rollin' babayy!...."

I hope you enjoy the journey too and it wasn't too random for your tastes. :)
