In case you missed hearing about it, they included a scene where they all swim in their white briefs (didn't read the book, so not sure if that was original or not).

Plenty of cute boy moments, with a cute cast. Boys aside, I also think they did well with the films. Bill SkarsgÄrd who played Pennywise seems like a sweet man in real life. He would check on the kids after scenes to make sure they felt okay. I would rate the movie(s) overall a 7/10. If I watched IT again, it would be for the boy parts though. I mean...the parts with the boys in it.

But yes! The boys wear shorts that are decently above their knees all throughout the movie!

Back to the movie directors and clothing designers avoiding real shorts for boys...

You might appreciate how far I went to look more into this too. I can still recall the very beginning of the movie "Anger Management" (hilarious movie, totally recommend it if you haven't seen it) where it depicts the main character as a kid, who is in the classic REALLY short athletic shorts with the tube socks. He ends up getting pants-ed by the bully, underwear included, getting laughed at by everyone in the neighborhood and even his crush couldn't help laughing too. This led to him not wanting to kiss in public.

Anyways, whenever I saw a boy finally put into really short shorts, I would go back to that part and put on the commentary audio from the director(s) and actor(s). You could tell Adam Sandler (who starred as the boy when he grew up) did not quite know what to say when the camera first showed the boy. He just said "sweet legs" in a very passive way.

I found the scene on YouTube:

I did the same thing for the comedy film "Joe Dirt". The actor for the youngest brother in the show "Malcome in the Middle", Erik Per Sullivan, played Joe Dirt as a boy. He was dressed kind of like a cowboy, with short-ish jean shorts, cowboy boots, and a half shirt. You can see him in this clip on YouTube:

And again, David Spade (paraphrasing, going by memory) in the commentary was laughing saying how they were trying to make the kid look like an idiot.

Oh and by the way, seeing boys constantly tugging their baggy shorts down drives/drove me nuts, too! I just want to say "why on earth would you want to cover such gems!?"
