Here are some counterpoints since you seem to be jumping to conclusions. First one of the things that really irk me is when people, usually people who hate pedophiles, jump to conclusions based on a news article. The fact is nobody except the people at the trial really know all the facts of the case, which often differ from the actual facts. Witnesses withdraw from testimony for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they or their family members don't want them to further engage in the trauma of the experience. Whether or not it's morally right or wrong, having to take the stand in front of a bunch of people on record talking about shoving stuff up your ass is not a fun experience for most people. I would not want my child to go through that. Sometimes they die. Sometimes their memory gets a little hazy. Sometimes they know their bullshit story won't stand in court. Children are very suggestible. It is very possible they were coerced into doing things they may later regret for this guy's sexual gratification. Ultimately, we don't know the facts of the case and therefore shouldn't jump to any kind of conclusions. |
