First of all, please stop assuming that every single isolated thing I say is supposed to amount to a "proof of the existence of God". I'm trying to make an argument in stages. Yes, and each stage leads to the proof of god, I am assuming. So if one of the stages fails, your proof of god fails. Second of all, do you not think that the natural world is largely structured by mathematical principles that we humans do not invent, but discover? No, I dont think that, and am not even sure what you mean by "structured by mathematical principles" If not, you're so at odds with physics and natural science in general that your allegiance to science is vacuous. No, the fact that mathematics gives a very good model of reality, does not mean that reality is structured on mathematical principles. The model of atoms as protons neutrons etc, gives us a good model of the atom, but the atom is not like that in reality. Can you show me where science makes the case that reality is structured by mathematical principles? |
