Pedo diary.

Hia, beloved baby boys.~ As you guys know, I'm unemployed and have no girlfriend, so I have a lot of free time which I spend looking stuff online for sake of distracting myself. One of the places I often visit is B4U-ACT, to see if they have surveys for me to take. You guys probably know where this is going...

They have recently sponsored an ongoing study about a social constructionist approach to pedophilia. It goes like this: you e-mail the person saying you want to participate and then you are given some topics to write about. You have one topic per week, so you can put sincere thought into what you are writing. The first topic is your feelings, your history, how you see the way pedophilia is treated in your country (by authorities, mental health, society at large and so on) and how it compares with other countries. The second is about support groups and therapy, if you have taken it. The third is an overall reflection on the past two topics. And that would be it.

To participate, you gotta first be 18+, have an attraction to minors and be involved in an organization of sorts, which is kinda confusing. I had to e-mail the researcher to know what it means to be involved in an organization. I didn't ask about Boychat, but I wish I had now. Anyway, she said that, if you have taken other surveys/questionnaires on B4U-ACT you count as being involved with them.

The only thing in this study that irks me is something that I'm sure our fella, Filip30, would point out immediately: this study clearly states that the goal of data usage is policy-making. Probably something in the lines of "seeing how therapy can be better provided and how". But the fact that they want to conceive pedophilia as a social construct, therefore a concept passive of changing, and might give the same treatment to "child sexual abuse" (implying that some things we call "abuse" might not be it) makes me tempted to participate, so I signed up. I mean, they will read the stuff I write, right? Perhaps they take me in consideration...

Why would I share this study here, or any others for that matter, when the goal seems to conflict with ours? I told others before that the reason I insist in these studies is that conservative pedophiles, such as the self-declared "virtuous" crowd, take these surveys. If we flee from them, only data from that group will be collected and we would be contributing to making the virtuous narrative the dominant one. I think it's fair that researchers know that people like us, who are dissidents and hold different views about the laws, also exist. It would be nice if they heard us out. And this is a fine opportunity for that, since it's not a checkbox thing, but a fully discursive, supposedly willing to look at how other cultures tackle this issue, research project.

If you don't wanna take it, I will take no offense at all. I have my reason to take it. Hopefully, this post hurt no feelings.~
