Oh, I think genitals create everything! I can't understand how the opposite could be true. The word "genital" has the same root as "generate." Not only are they vital on reproductive level, but the very fact of having them and knowing one has them has an effect on one's psychology and the way societies sort people out. Whatever you may think of Freud, he we quite right to point out the tremendous symbolic significance of the sex organs, quite apart from their reproductive function. Why would transgendered people ever want to do something as drastic as cut off or graft on a penis if this weren't the case? |
