Thanks as always for the links. If this is the same project that I was made aware of decades ago, it involved the placement of troubled or "at risk" adolescent boys with men who could be called pederasts or boy-lovers, or gay men, but who were not pedophiles. Adolescents are not children. Men who love adolescents are not pedophiles. The men with whom these boys were placed do not fit the picture painted by the word "pedophile," nor do they fit the technical definition of the term. Thus, the story not only fails to provide any useful information about the boys' experiences with the men, or about the long-term outcome of these placements for the boys or their community. The tiny bit of information the DW article does provide about the placement of the boys with the men (i.e. that they were children placed with pedophiles) is false. I no longer have the youthful energy and hopefulness to bother sending an email to the authors about this. Particularly as I do not speak German. Given the totality of the situation, I am unsure if a letter would have any effect. But I would applaud any German speaker who did send one. Peace and Love, shy guy -=- |
