My participation at facebook has been mostly about keeping in touch with a handful of close friends and relatives. Posting things from boychat at facebook will only alienate you from the world further.

I think you worry about status too much. Marriage is not in the cards for me either. But so what? The important thing is how you feel about yourself. Right now you feel like a low status guy because your offline world is not what you want it to be. Work on that first. Facebook will only take you away from making your offline world (job, own home, hobbies) better.

Once you have a good offline situation you will have a lot of people connecting with you on facebook. I often have old coworkers and friends trying to connect with me there but you can easily get swept up in peoples personal or political drama. And that is very bad for someone like me and maybe you too.
