I agree with Pharmakon, this book looks very interesting, and I don't think I've seen it before. Thanks for the link. The references to hobo culture bring to mind another book, which made a strong impression on me, but which is eluding the grasp of my memory right now. It included a pretty compelling description of the culture of the hobos of the same region and their practice of pairing up into man/boy couples. This book sounds like an excellent follow-up. It also seems like yet another example of a book about the history of homosexuality, that is in fact, largely a history of man/boy intimacy. And it's not ancient history. It brings us well into the 20th century. sg -=- |
