Kind of what I'm doing now, among other things: -Join a nonprofit group and sneak in some advocacy for your rights. I've just started doing this, but I find if you do it VERY subtly, it is actually possible, but remember, subtlety is key. When I mean subtle things, I mean indirect policies that start steering us in the right direction. Give it some thought :) -Create a MAP account on a mainstream site like YouTube and Twitter and just be there. Even if you don't make content of your own. Just be there, like & reply to other MAPs occasionally. Your mere existence on social media will attract more MAPs and help us become more visible on mainstream sites. Yes, the powers that be will tell us to scram (like a gay bar raid) and we get deleted sometimes but that's why you always offer people another way to reconnect and contact each other, like email. I'm glad we've got places like here (& now FreeSpeechTube!) which offer a more permanent home base. Also Twitter is actually becoming pretty decent due to the amendment in their TOS at the beginning of the year that explicitly allows MAPs. I found if you get suspended, it is possible to appeal it and get your account restored. |
