No one is publicly pleading with the Cogs to remove Sick Rose's rather scattered thoughts on the nature of performativity and masculinity. He also contends that understanding masculinity is integral to a justification of boylove. My post explores the basic attributes of masculinity, so I can't see how it isn't germane. I do understand the concern with becoming "too essentialist" however. Isn't this always the predictable result of essentialist philosophy. If one believes they have the one truth about something, any other possibility is false, it is so very easy to slip into the thinking that those spreading falsehoods must be disciplined... ...or dare I say bullied? For isn't censorship just another means of bullying? |
