Wow thanks. Quite a shocker of an ending. Not really sure what it's meant to mean. I mean, obviously it isn't meant to be "good", at least in the context of the film, but it isn't really clear why. Because the handsome fella lost out? I mean, clearly the kid isn't complaining. Seems kind of vague still. Unfortunately, it does play on a (probably irrational) fear I've been having lately of going out in public places with my adopted son and being accused of kidnapping or of pedophiliac intentions. He often gets very comfortable with me, but he and I look nothing alike (I'm pale/brunette/hazel-eyed while he's tan/blond/blue-eyed) and on more than one occasion when going out of town I've been met with unflattered, disturbed looks in the past. Part of it has to do with my looking and sounding somewhat feminine, which stems more from having so many female friends than anything else. Even though I always have his information on hand and could easily prove he were mine if questioned, the mere accusation of ill will would probably be enough to send me into panic. |
