The fact of boys over 12 typically becoming very horny and having frequent raging erections (and deep cravings and longings for physical intimacy -- although there is almost no research on this, so I must extrapolate from my personal experience being a boy and observing others when I was a boy) makes it relatively easy to argue in favor of greater sexual freedom for them than is currently allowed. But it is quite true that boys younger than 12 can and often do enjoy sexual expression. It is also true that there is no evidence showing that sex is more harmful to pre-pubertal boys than to post-pubertal boys. And there is clear evidence that the large majority of sexual experiences of pre-pubertal boys are both harmless and viewed positively by the boy. This suggests that boys under 12 are also deserving of sexual freedom. How to safeguard their freedom against abuses is another more difficult question, but being difficult does not make it impossible. I hope our respective societies find better answers than the ones they currently offer. I think your important work might bring that closer to reality. sg -=- |
