It seems like you've misunderstood. The part of the sentence that you've quoted about "abuse prevention" refers to the actual state of research today, research which typically focuses on preventing what is defined as abuse - defined by by convention, not by B4U-ACT. B4U-ACT's goal is to encourage research into minor-attracted people which is not focused on preventing what others may define as abuse, but on the needs of minor-attracted people (dealing with stigma and how to live authentically when opportunities for that are severely curtailed, for example). Before conducting research with the hope of moving beyond the status quo, it's necessary to acknowledge the status quo, however distasteful it may be. In accord with the customs of scientific inquiry, B4U-ACT has done this in a dispassionate, non-tendentious way. |
