..I'm pretty sure I've got CrissCross on DVD around my home somewhere, comes with two versions (4:3 and 16:9).. but I sometimes try to imagine what some musical movie clips would be like without the music.. especially if it is 'cover' music (ie not specifically made for the movie). Ever wondered why some media companies voraciously buy up more media seemingly without end? It's because it enables them to cross-fertilise their own (owned) media to leverage in movies and the like, without continuously paying royalties to the original owners of the copyright. When you see the original music in it's original context, it almost always comes with a very different complexion and creates different emotions. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0vVa-5pej4 It's a nice song, always was, but it was about the lures and joys of California and from a time when US culture was a bit different too, but CrissCross was set in the lures and joys of the Key West, Florida. |
