She wanted to use her victimhood for the greater good by telling everyone. I doubt her victim status is going to negatively affect her career or anything else; if anything, she'll probably be able to use her fame to her advantage if she wants to, say, get into grad school or get hired by an NGO. You can see in various photos that men were falling over one another trying to help her carry that mattress. She inspires the protective and chivalrous instinct in them.

Our society has mostly been won over to feminism by this point, wouldn't you say? What cultural battles are left for them to win? The average man is willing to wife up a woman who has been raped or who slept with a bunch of guys in college. So why does it matter anymore; where is the stigma?

Likewise with child sexual abuse; plenty of men and women have used their stories about that to gain credibility, e.g. in the field of sexual abuse survivor services, or even when they were trying to get sympathy after committing crimes themselves. Milo tried to play that card, for instance.
