Scapegoating

I agree, basically the governments in the West are looking for somebody to blame for the fact that their standards of living are at best stagnant and for many people flat out in the toilet. Take their minds off that somehow. Do what governments have always done, start wars to give their pissed off citizens foreigners to hate, manufacture dangers at home to keep them from unifying behind demands for something better. Lost your job and your home? The Chinese caused that, don't blame your friendly millionaire government lackey he's the only thing protecting your sniveling brat's ass from having some pedo's dick shoved up it 15 times a day. When times are bad we like to think it brings out the best in us. Maybe when they get really, really bad that will happen. But the grinding sense that you have to pedal this hard just to avoid getting run over by the truck behind you makes people suspicious, grumpy, angry, and spoiling for a fight. A community under stress often turns on its weakest members. We are an easy target and the people in charge need targets to avoid becoming targets themselves. hugzu ;-p
