BM really got my heart racing

This weekend I stopped by to visit a friend's project and got shanghighed into directing traffic while he used a forklift to unload sixteen pallets of supplies off the back of a flatbed trailer. The trucker parked in the center lane, so I had to stop traffic every time my friend drove up to the trailer and then let the traffic flow by during the time it took to drive the pallets into the little parking lot. It was a little scary as the cars zipped impatiently by with mere inches to spare between the truck and side of the road.

After the trucker unstrapped his load he got back in the cab and got his spunky little son out of the car seat. He was a cute little tyke named Aiden, with short blond hair and big blue eyes. He was wearing the most adorable little boots, just like his daddy.

The father and son romped in the neighboring yard while my pal unloaded the side of the trailer facing his property. I kept one eye on the traffic, one eye on the forklift and also a couple eyes on the playing pair. Aiden had been riding for hours and had energy to burn.

After unloading the side of the load facing the property, Aiden and his dad got back in the cab to turn around so my amigo could unload the pallets from the far side of the trailer. Papa explained as they walked by that Aiden had pitched a fit this morning wanting to ride with daddy. Aww, I want someone to love me so much they cry to go with me. Reminds me of my dearly departed dog.

Here comes the heart racing part: After they got the trailer turned around Daddy and Aiden got up on the trailer to put the straps away. He was running from side to side, getting dangerously close to the edge. He could have stumbled and fell five feet down onto hard blacktop and been smushed by the cars zipping by. His daddy hollered at him to "be careful and stay away from the side," but little kids aren't careful! He was getting too close to the edge!!!

Between directing traffic I stood by the back of the trailer and called the little booger over to me. I praised his boots and he left me feel how strong they were. I told him to help me watch traffic and wave the cars by. He was good at that, screaming "STAAAAAAWP!!!" when it was time to stop and "GO!!!" to get them moving again.

Super cute little boy. Made my morning.
