I could not disagree with him more on this particular subject. We have sparred on it strongly, rather to my regret as I think he is otherwise a fascinating and original character with some valuable ideas. For the record, I think the historical evidence is overwhelming that in societies where it was taken for granted that boys were sexually attractive to men, it was generally also taken for granted that men would want to quench their desire for them this way. Hence I consider it natural. I think the evidence regarding ancient Greece is not quite as clear as for most pederastic societies as they were decidedly reticent in several respects about what should be depicted or described.
