Even if we shouldn't get too high expectations about the outcome, they are fighting against government interference in science works, and that can only be a good thing.

Scientists have good reasons to be worried, not only in the US, but in most western countries and the rest of the world too. Politicians and lobbies push more and more for an instrumentation of science, just like Nazis or the USSR used to do it. But politicians of course deny the validity of this critique, as they are good people, while the others were evil, you know ;) In fact they are so good that if you dare declare fascist their policies, they put you on trial :D
