Maybe he has a 'fruit' on the line and is busy reeling it in?

Maybe mommy walked in on him and demanded her laptop back.

Maybe he is late and needs to get down to the precinct for his shift.

Maybe he is shaving and tucking to appear younger (like 14 or so) to go hang around outside the gay bar... Won't be open for a while though... Maybe he could try a gay breakfast club.
