are a lot of girls who have no father figure at all in their lives, either because of divorce, or because they ran away from home, or whatever, and they became whores.

Of course, that lifestyle is associated with a lot of negative stuff, like cutting, suicide attempts, etc. Now, is that just correlation, or is it causation? I.e., is the freedom bad for them, or is it just lacking a father figure that's bad for them? Does the freedom leave them better off than they'd have been if they hadn't had the freedom?
