Yup I thought of that as well but gamma said HIS internet went down and not he lost contact with the boy.
You could be quite right though.
I also agree totally there is no way cops will alert the 'suspect' to their activities or tracking etc.

I think this is more about nervous paranoia and a technical glitch rather than any sort of tracking.
