Remember that although the roots of the hysteria go back to the seventies and before, it only reached full gale force within the last 15 years. During these same fifteen years, it has became "okay" -- at least in blue America and its equivalents overseas -- publicly to affirm that one is "gay." (I maintain these two phenomena are bound up with each other; they are two facets of an emerging set of new sexual boundaries). Most BL's (that was certainly true of me) start out when they are young fixating on other boys. Today, there's a ready-made label for those feelings: "gay". Oh, I'm gay. If you're in Hildeland you tell everybody and be celebrated; if you're in Trumpland you start figuring out how soon you can escape to Hildeland. Then, of course, you gradually discover that you're not "gay" but something else -- not only something else, but the very worst thing you can be under the new sexual fascism. (Only consolation being that you are the one bridge between the Hildebeasts and the Trumpists -- the one thing they will agree on -- that you are a monster -- and they'll stage contests to see which can hate, despise and persecute you more openly and more viciously.) But the trick is, it takes a while to figure this out and even after you do, publicly identifying as "gay" will work as cover (even to yourself, not to mention others) for a good decade or so after you pass into the danger zone (as in kiss another slightly younger boy when you're 17 and 11 months and be celebrated in Hildeland; kiss him when you're 18 and 1 day and you've just become a SEX OFFENDER to be branded for life in both lands.) So I think the jury is out. It hasn't been long enough to figure out what is going to happen to the rising generation of peds. Will they go deep underground, finding each other only on the dark web? Will the tools being perfected by Cantor, Blanchard and the like be sufficient to identify them before they can identify each other and thus find themselves being herded into the mental wards and the gas chambers? Will they coalesce into some sort of revolutionary force, as I devoutedly hope? Too early to tell. The only thing I am sure of is that they are out there. SR |
