Gangs are supposed to be about lucrative organized crime. Most of the individuals who are involved with gangs (not Mafias) are flunkies who go out of their way to draw attention to themselves. A thinking individual who is involved in illegal activity does not want attention, and they certainly won't be wearing a snotrag flag. How many mobsters do you see flying colors or stacking gang signs? These poor souls are flunkies and statistics. Nothing more.

And the first thing they do when they catch time is holler that they are oppressed and they were snitched on. Why not take responsibility for the collective shortcomings?

Most of these youths don't idolize folks like Stephen Hawking or George Washington Carver or David Thoreau- they want to be Michael Jordan, Al Capone, or some asshole "trap star". These people contribute nothing to society. The probability of one becoming a professional athlete is fairly scant. And the chances that one will build a criminal empire from a quarter ounce of shitty crack cocaine are even more slim.

Dreams are wonderful. Goals are attainable. But God forbid one should live a halfway honest lifestyle.
